UK tourists vow to ‘leave’ Mallorca after 300 locals ‘storm’ beaches

Mallorcan locals have stormed the beaches and “occupied” them amid growing resentment towards British tourists. British tourists were warned after the Balearic Islands faced fresh tension on Sunday (June 16th), with Mallorcan locals cracking down on what they perceive to be “over-tourism”.

Around 300 people occupied Santanyi’s Caló des Moro on Sunday in protest over overcrowding on the island’s beaches, according to the Mallorca Daily Bulletin, an island newspaper. The occupation was organized by the social group Mallorca Platja Tour.




The rally started at 8 am and initially there were only 20 people. “Others gradually arrived and increased the numbers,” the paper reported. Organizers said: “We want to spend a day at the beach with people from here.
