Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho in transfer talks to Aston Villa

Leicester City face a busy summer as they prepare for Premier League football and it looks like a number of players will be leaving the King Power Stadium.

The club’s problems with PSR mean high-profile exits are inevitable, while out-of-contract players such as Nigeria internationals Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi also look likely candidates for summer moves.

Striker Iheanacho was linked with Premier League side Aston Villa ahead of the summer as Unai Emery looks to find stronger competition for current talisman Ollie Waktins.

Now, fresh claims have emerged regarding the UEFA Europa Conference League semi-finalists’ interest in the Leicester City man.

Football Insider say Iheanacho’s representatives met with Aston Villa’s president of football operations, Monchi, on Thursday evening ahead of their away game against Olympiacos.

A Villa Park switch could be on the cards as they head for the King Power Stadium exit door.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Are you waiting for a new beginning?

It seems pretty certain that Iheanacho will be on the move from Leicester City this summer.

He hasn’t played a particularly widespread role in Enzo Maresca’s side this season, with veteran Jamie Vardy locking down a starting spot, and with his deal coming to an end, you have to think that points to his future elsewhere.

The former Manchester City man has been a great servant signing right now in 2017.

He scored 61 goals and provided 34 assists in 232 games for the Foxes, the vast majority of which were in the Premier League. But with a new chapter awaiting the club, it looks like he too will embark on a new challenge of his own.

A beneficial business

Leicester City are in a position where they need to raise funds, so Iheanacho leaving for nothing is not ideal. He’s someone he could probably get a decent fee for if he was under contract.

However, his exit will mean a good chunk of the payroll, which will be beneficial.

Expect spending to be fairly low this summer despite the need to recruit for Premier League football. PSR penalties likely await regardless, but limited spending reduces the chances of further violations of tightening rules and regulations.

Time will tell if anything comes of Iheanacho’s fresh transfer talks, but Aston Villa could be a likely destination as he prepares to leave Leicester City.
