The suspected Cornwall murder victim was in her 40s, police have confirmed

Devon and Cornwall Police have launched an appeal for information following the death of a woman near Liskeard. Officers confirmed they had opened a murder investigation yesterday afternoon.

The investigation comes after officers were called by the ambulance service to a report of a deceased woman in a secluded property near Merrymeet, Liskeard, at around 8.40am on Saturday 15 June.



Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A 75-year-old man from the Liskeard area has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.

Detective Inspector Neil Blanchard, of the Major Crime Squad, is now appealing for anyone with information that could help police with their enquiries.

He said: “The deceased, a woman in her 40s, and the suspect are believed to have known each other. We are appealing for anyone with any information that could help us with our inquiries to come forward.

“We also urge people not to speculate on social media about the circumstances surrounding this matter. There will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days as our inquiries continue.”
