Women’s double win for Ashton at Wigan

Lisa Ashton won both events at the weekend at the Women’s Series in Wigan to boost her hopes of qualifying for the World Championships halfway through.

Ashton beat Aileen de Graaf 5-1 in the final on Saturday before a 5-1 win over Beau Graves to move up to third on the order of merit.

With 12 women’s events left to play, all players will still be hoping to find a way into the top two and earn a place at Alexandra Palace in December.

Qualification for next month’s Women’s World Cup, which takes place on Sunday July 21 at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, has also been confirmed, with the current top eight securing a place.
