Run, walk or walk at the upcoming Ducks Unlimited charity event

“We are motivated to preserve these pristine natural spaces for future generations,” says Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Canada official

It will be a quick ride to the finish line later this month for the second annual Duck and Run in support of Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC).

The local race will take place on Saturday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at the Tiffin Conservation Center – located about 20 minutes west of Barrie – and aims to raise awareness and funds for wetland conservation.

Participants are invited to run, walk or walk the wetlands in the five-kilometre or one-kilometre fun run and help the organization celebrate the beauty and value of Canada’s wetlands – which are essential for biodiversity, clean water and drought, flooding and climate mitigation in communities across the country—as well as mobilizing community action for their restoration and conservation.

Every step taken in the Duck and Run, which caters to all ages and fitness levels, is a step towards a sustainable future and contributes to the health of these vital wetland habitats.

Originating in Manitoba and fueled by his triumphs, this annual affair has since become a national event thanks to the generosity of sponsors including Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Canada.

“This event is a great opportunity for our employees and customers to turn their passion for the Canadian outdoors into action,” says Brent Bowen, Regional Director for Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Canada. “We are motivated to keep these natural spaces pristine for future generations.”

For those unable to attend the event in person, they are invited to sign up for the 10K Steps Virtual Race, where they can set their own pace to complete their 10K steps by June 23rd.

Residents who want to get involved but are not interested in running are invited to volunteer, as DUC relies heavily on the generous support of volunteers to make each Duck and Run a success.

In addition to supporting a good cause, Duck and Run participants can expect great giveaways, prizes and more.
