Liam Gallagher fans in tears as chaos breaks out at Co-op Live concert in Manchester

Liam Gallagher’s fans couldn’t contain their excitement when the former Oasis frontman announced he was set to perform live at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena.

But the much-anticipated live concert was left in a state of chaos following a blunder at the venue’s box office. According to an eyewitness, fans were left in tears as some were denied a view of the infamous frontman, 51, boasting on stage as they bought tickets to sit in the arena – but they they were said to be minors.

A source exclusively told the Mirror: “There was absolute chaos, fans were stunned at the box office when they were told they hadn’t been sent.” He added: “A fan who was just 16 was with her parents and was left in tears when she was turned away at the doors because she was underage to be on the floor. The door stewards said it was venue policy, but Fan Services refused to back down, despite the fan and her family testifying.”

The tour, named after the album Definitely Maybe, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and the album was the fastest-selling debut album on release in the UK, spawning anthems including Live Forever and Cigarettes and Alcohol. During the concert, clips from Oasis’ heyday were played on the big screens, along with magazine covers and newspaper headlines, before Liam took to the stage to belt out Rock ‘n’Roll Star. Standing on stage in front of over 23,000 people, he then performed Up in the Sky and Digsy’s Dinner, which are songs that have been rarely performed since the mid-90s.

Despite his ongoing Noel feud, Liam paid tribute to Noel by singing Half The World Away and according to reports, the crowd got into a huge sing-a-long, which was a first for the night. The set of the 1994 album aimed to pay homage to the nostalgia of that period. Referring to the delay in opening the venue after some issues, he told the crowd: “This is a nice building, innit. He turned it off and all that at GMTV a few weeks ago.”

The long-awaited Oasis reunion rumor has gained momentum after a fan spotted a ‘Reserved for Noel Gallagher’ sign at the gig on Monday 10 June. Oasis last took to the stage together in 2009, but after a huge meltdown in Paris, Noel announced that “I just couldn’t go on working with Liam one more day”. But now fans have been left in awe as they posted a photo of his 02 booking. One person, who took it to X at the time, said: “I’m in a hospitality box at #LiamGallagher and I just saw this on a chair in front of me.”
