Based on the book of the same name by Danny Lyon, The Bikeriders’ clubhouse focus sees the film explore masculinity, and not always in ways you’d expect.

For writer/director Jeff Nichols, that was the whole point.

“People come into this movie with an idea of what they think these people are. What’s interesting is when you discover that they’re possibly a little more, possibly a little more complicated, more dynamic,” Nichols said. The digital spy.

“That’s how I felt when I came into the world of Danny Lyon’s book, is that I might have had some judgments here, and now these people are speaking in a way that I identify with. That’s when it gets interesting. Masculinity is hard to define. “

Hardy added: “I think also when you start looking underneath something, you understand the connection between human beings and how they work.”
