Three arrested after a 16-year-old boy was killed in a falling tree

A 16-year-old boy died after being injured by a falling tree. Nottinghamshire Police said two men, aged 28 and 31, had been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with Saturday’s death.

Officers were called to Rotherham Baulk, Carlton-in-Lindrick, at 11.21am on Saturday after reports that a boy had been seriously injured. The police and paramedics intervened, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.




A 28-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting a criminal. All three people arrested were in police custody on Sunday evening.

Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the boy’s family. They asked for privacy at this most difficult time. The family is being supported by specially trained officers as we continue. to investigate exactly what happened”.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information, including witnesses and those who may have captured CCTV, doorbell or dash cam footage, to get in touch.
