A monster storm hit Britain with 10 days of rain in just three hours

A mega storm will bring ten days of rain in just three hours, according to the latest weather maps. It already feels like summer has reached a wet squib, but parts of the country are set to be hit with torrential rain – and it’s only a week away.

That’s according to Ventusky weather maps, which predict the south of the country will bear the worst of the weather with Brighton, Southend-on-Sea and Ipswich blanketed in stormy conditions, the Mirror reported. In the forecast for next week, the Met Office also confirmed a chance of “heavy rain with thunder”.

“After a few days of mostly fine and settled weather, a gradual transition to more changeable conditions across the Atlantic is likely, with periods of cloud, rain and stronger winds most often affecting the west and north-west,” it’s said. “There remains a slight chance of an area of ​​heavy thundery rain affecting parts of the south on Friday 21st, possibly accompanied by brief warm and humid conditions.”

The Thunder update comes as Coventry and Warwickshire are set for a more stable week. But there will be some showers today (June 17) and tomorrow (June 18).

This will lead to ‘warmer’ spells of sunshine as we head into later in the week. The latest forecast from the local Met Office is as follows:

Today

Light rain is moving south into the northern part of the region. Becoming rainy by midday but mostly dry with plenty of sunny spells in the south. Sensation of warmth in sunlight. Maximum temperature 20C.

This evening

Any showers during the day ease off in the evening becoming much more severe with clear spells in most parts. Clouds thicken overnight in the north and west at dawn. Stay gentle. Minimum temperature 7C.

Tuesday

Cloud from the north-west breaks through the morning, bringing sunny spells. Risk of showers in the east of the region, but feeling warm in any sheltered places. Maximum temperature 19C.

Outlook Wednesday through Friday

Mostly dry for the rest of the week, although cloudier at times. Feeling warm in the sunnier interludes and light winds throughout.
