Cesc Fabregas and Rio Ferdinand have given their verdict on Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold.

The midfielder played a total of 69 minutes before being replaced by Conor Gallagher. Speaking after the match, Fabregas said of his performance: “Mixed. I think he has moments where he’s superb, others maybe he got too happy with the ball, but overall he reacted well. He showed personality and the more he plays there, the better he will become.”

Ferdinand added: “It’s the quality. When you put him on the ball, you don’t have too many worries. He gets caught a few times and that’s part of the midfield component – people come at you from different angles.

“Then you see stuff like that – there’s not many who can do that and switch him from a defensive position to the final third in one pass. He’s got that quality. The only concern he’ll have with him is when you start playing the better teams and they start asking questions defensively.

“But, I like to focus on what he’s good at – getting into these areas and picking out a man in a white shirt.”

Of England’s performance, Fabregas concluded: “Obviously they have to sit down, analyze those first 30/35 minutes in the first half and they have to grow from that.

“They have too much talent to play defensive players. I like that they have the courage to go forward like they did in the first 35 minutes. Build on that, don’t regress.”
