Truck plunges off bridge and into canal in dramatic early morning crash

A lorry plunged into a canal in a dramatic early morning crash on a bridge.


Emergency services were called to the A346 near Burbage, Wiltshire, on Sunday (June 16). 999 crews went to the scene at around 12.50pm. An articulated lorry, owned by Spanish logistics firm PrimaFrio, left the carriageway and came to rest in the Kennet and Avon canal.



Wiltshire Police say the driver of the vehicle was uninjured. In a statement at the time, the force said: “Drivers please note that the A346 north of Burbage is currently closed after a lorry left the carriageway and entered the canal in the early hours of this morning.

“They are not believed to be injured but a lengthy recovery operation is now underway. Please find alternative routes”. The road was closed for about 24 hours while the truck was recovered.
