Royal Enfield has gone all guns blazing. Their unveiling of the 650cc twins – Continental GT650 and Interceptor 650 at EICMA 2017 in Milan, attracted a lot of attention and excited RE fans once again. This time, there is other news that the company is working on three new platforms for their upcoming bikes. In fact, these platforms will replace existing ones. New emission norms will come and these platforms will meet these norms.

The new 650cc bikes are also built on a new platform. The engine is a 648cc, 4-stroke, single overhead cam, air-cooled parallel twin that delivers 47PS and 52Nm of torque. The transmission is a six-speed and also has a slipper clutch. ABS will be standard on both bikes. These bikes are slated to go into production in India by April 2018 and will also be exported to Europe while being sold in India at the same time. Royal Enfield is focusing on global markets and therefore investing in new platforms that can produce new models with global competence.
