Kate Middleton ‘doing well’: Prince William offers reassuring news about Princess of Wales, saying Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will be ‘very jealous’ on two-day trip to Cornwall

As community workers, patients and hospital staff walked William through the building, he was told about the new social care facilities being built nearby. Later, the Prince got his hands dirty digging ground for a new maternity ward.

His guide, Tracy Smith, told the BBC: “I asked William about his wife Kate and he said ‘she’s doing well, thank you.’

Family was clearly on the Prince’s mind, despite the glorious weather. “My family is very upset that I’m here without them,” he told a crowd member, “My kids are going to kill me if I don’t come back.”

From the sounds of things, it was a very pleasant trip for William. Starting with a game of beach volleyball in Newquay and a Baywatch-esque video to match, the Prince met volunteers for the RNLI and joined its younger members for lifesaving training.

He also visited Nansledan, the sustainable housing project initiated by his father, King Charles, when he was Duke of Cornwall. The newly built 500 acre town will see 4,000 homes built over the next 50 years. Prince William, who has made it his life’s mission to help eradicate homelessness, is implementing plans to build 24 flats and houses to act as temporary accommodation for those experiencing homelessness.
