Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville is the subject of his first formal talks of the summer, with Brighton confirming they have approached the Whites over a deal.

After defeat in the Championship play-off final, Leeds knew that next summer would bring major sales of star players from Daniel Farke’s side.

The hope was that the 49ers would be in a much stronger negotiating position than the club was in 2023.

Crysencio Summerville under discussion at Brighton – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano broke the news today that Crysencio Summerville is the first player to report transfer talks with another club.

He said Leeds had been approached by Brighton about the Dutchman’s availability this summer, while no formal offer had been made.

Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be lurking in the background, remaining interested in Summerville, but are yet to approach Leeds, as have the Seagulls.

YEP: No release clause for Summerville, Red Bull help strong transfer position

The Yorkshire Evening Post revealed that Leeds are actually in a strong position to let Summerville leave on their own terms in a big-money sale.

They claim that the recent minority investment from Red Bull has put Leeds in a place where they are under no pressure to let players go on the cheap, with the cash injection allowing the club to have more freedom in terms of PSR so that can negotiate. for the best possible fee with the extreme.

As for the price, there is no release clause in the player’s deal, meaning a fee of up to £35m could be demanded – per Graham Smyth:

Summerville will leave for big money, but on Leeds’ terms

It is inevitable that we lose Summerville this summer because they are simply too good to keep in this league.

However, he won’t go unless the demands are met and the sheer volume of interest in him means we’ll be asking a lot.

Brighton have previously spent big on a Championship player in Joao Pedro, so they will probably want to strike gold twice here.

It is also very encouraging to already see a tangible benefit from Red Bull for the club.
