Leeds United winger Dan James had a terrific 23/24 season which could have ended perfectly if his powerful strike had been an inch lower at Wembley, but he could be looking at a new contract with Elland Road.

The Whites will see their attacking formation look quite different come August after missing out on promotion back to the Premier League.

Should they lose Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto as expected, the last thing the club would want to deal with is losing another winger.

Dan James propaganda appears on social media in Leeds

The last major moment of Leeds’ season was Dan James’s volley from under Southampton’s crossbar at Wembley, and as he bounced in front of the line it was pretty clear that Daniel Farke’s side were not going up.

For much of the season, however, things went well for James in front of the goal – enjoying campaign bests in goals and assists with 13 and seven, respectively.

It prompted a post out of nowhere from Leeds’ official social media account, which compiles his best bits from 23/24:

Happy to have Aaronson back?

Is a new Dan James deal in the works?

A £25million outlay from Manchester United in 2021, James is someone who doesn’t look like a sale that makes sense for Leeds.

PSR wouldn’t benefit much as he won’t get a transfer fee to eclipse the amortized contract the 49ers are facing at the moment and is largely stuck in that position of being brilliant in the EFL, but a fighter in the top ranking.

Looking at the specifics and timing of this post about James, it seems quite coincidental, with internationals currently taking the limelight in the world of football, and not Wales where James would have been involved.

The formatting is identical to Sam Byram’s, with a compilation also shared while writing a one-year extension, confirmed during the withheld announcement:

It could easily be a coincidence, but it’s worth considering that there’s a reason why James of all players prompted this post. He would be worth a new contract if that happened.

James enters the final two years of his five-year deal at Leeds this summer, contracted until 2026 at Elland Road.
