Police hunting a man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a 12-year-old boy have urged the public to “do the right thing” and come forward with information.

Dolars Aleksanders, 21, is wanted on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after Keaton Slater was hit with a black BMW on Radford Road in Coventry shortly after 4.30pm on Friday.

The boy was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Keaton’s family paid tribute to a “fun-loving little comedian” who was “so beautiful inside and out”.

Flowers, balloons, toys and flags were left at the crash site.

Superintendent Paul Joyce said he was determined to “do everything we can” to get justice for Keaton, a keen football fan.

He said: “We are asking everyone to think about what this would be like if it happened to your family and do the right thing and tell us what you know.

“Keaton was a young man enjoying his life. As a football fan, no doubt he would have loved to cheer for England last night, but for his life to be taken so cruelly is heartbreaking.

“Keaton’s family are being supported by specialist officers and we would ask that their privacy be respected at this most tragic time.”
