A 12-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run crash has been remembered as “so beautiful inside and out” in a tribute by his family.

The young man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have seized an abandoned black BMW that was found in New Arley Friday night and are trying to track down the driver.

In a tribute, released through police, the boy’s family said: “We will all miss our fun loving little comedian, he just wanted to make everyone laugh and smile.

“He was so beautiful inside and out, our baby and our baby brother. Life can be so horrible.”

Sgt Rich Evans, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A family have lost a 12-year-old boy in a horrific incident and our thoughts are with them.

“We are supporting them in this most dire of times and keeping them informed as our work to trace those responsible continues.

“We would like to thank all those people who have already contacted us with information and our inquiries are progressing.

“But we would again appeal to those involved or anyone who knows them to search their conscience, do the right thing and tell us what you know.”

The BMW is being forensically examined.

A person who was voluntarily interviewed after coming to a police station on Saturday has been released under investigation.
