Liverpool’s Arne Slot transferred the perspective as Mohamed Salah brought his next move into focus

Liverpool’s summer transfer window has been quiet so far as Arne Slot’s tenure got off to a conservative start.

The Dutchman arrives from Feyenoord with a big task on his hands to replace Jurgen Klopp. The outgoing German head coach was a huge presence at Anfield and had a big impact on all aspects of the club.

Slot’s role with the Reds will vary, however, as FSG have recruited the 45-year-old as head coach, with jobs such as player recruitment outsourced to sporting directors. However, in our latest look at the media headlines, it looks like Slot will still be sending clear instructions to those above him about what he wants.

Clear slot instructions

In a recent interview with The Athletic, Slot’s former scout from the Netherlands, Christos Akkas, explained how he is on his old boss with recruiting.

He said: “The coach has been very specific about what he wants to play. And we have been able to capture from a data perspective, from a scouting perspective, but also from a mental, physical, technical, tactical perspective, exactly how he wants . Play.

“And then the club set some rules. So we never sign a player older or more expensive than the one being replaced.”
