The city of Hanover is setting up cooling centers during the intense heat wave

The city of Hanover has set up two local cooling centers for all residents during the start of an intense heat wave this week.

A city news release states that the main lobby of the Hanover Civic Center, the Public Library and the main lobby of the P&H Center are available during regular facility hours for anyone needing to cool off.

The release adds that drinking plenty of cold water is key during this hot spell. Neighbors are encouraged to check on older adults in their neighborhood. Also, a reminder that pets should not be left in vehicles unattended for any length of time during the heat.

The program of the Hanover Public Library and Civic Center is:

From Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 20:00

Friday from 10:00 to 17:00

Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00

The Hanover P & H Center program is:

(until June 30)

Monday, Wednesday and Friday | 6:00 – 21:00

tuesday and thursday | 6:00 – 21:30

Saturday | 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

Sunday | 10:00 – 16:00
