Birmingham Airport explains why parking company has ‘suspended’ operations

Birmingham Airport has explained what happened after a parking service suddenly suspended operations last month. Independent airport parking provider Blue Circle Parking stopped collecting and delivering cars belonging to BHX customers on May 20 after it “suspended operations”.

Some passengers were left to make alternative arrangements after returning from holiday to find the company no longer there. An apology was issued to drivers using the valet service, but BirminghamLive found live adverts for Blue Circle online earlier this month, weeks after the company went out of business.

We sent a screenshot of this ad to the airport, who confirmed that the company had “officially ceased all operations” at BHX, along with their other branches at major UK airports. The airport also advised what travelers looking for a meeting service should do.

BHX bosses explained that those wanting to book a meeting service for their vehicle will still be able to do so via their website. As for Blue Circle, a new provider has taken over its operations, meaning there are also independent companies offering the same service.

A Birmingham Airport spokesman said: “Blue Circle has ceased operations at all airports, including Birmingham Airport, on Tuesday 21 May. Birmingham Airport’s official, approved and guaranteed car parking products, including meet and greet, can be purchased from our website. .”

After Blue Circle withdrew, an apology was sent to customers via Holiday Extras, which sold Blue Circle’s services on its website. The website added that anyone with existing bookings with Blue Circle will now have the service managed by Maple Parking. You can read the full apology here.

Parking worries aside, there are significant changes inside the terminal at BHX. Birmingham Airport Chief Executive Nick Barton took BirminghamLive around the airport last week where we asked him questions about escalators, queue chaos and summer recruitment.
