Premier League matches Man Utd LIVE: Red Devils learn 2024/25 schedule

The £50m Carrington refurbishment is taking place behind the scenes

Even before a ball is kicked in the 2024-25 season, Manchester United have been hard at work.

Work begins this week on a £50m project to refurbish the club’s Carrington training complex, with plans in place to transform it into a “world-class” facility.

Work on the project is expected to last for the duration of next season, with areas earmarked for renovation including the gymnasium, medical, nutrition and recovery areas.

How things started last season

The 2023-24 campaign started with a win for United, but it was a nervy one.

Raphael Varane scored the only goal of the game in a narrow win over Wolves, goalkeeper Andre Onana saving a late challenge that many felt should have seen the visitors concede a penalty.

“I thought (the on-field umpire) was going to go for the screen at the start but unfortunately he booked me and not Onana. But fair play to (PGMOL referees officer) Jon Moss after that because he came out and apologised,” Wolves manager Gary. O’Neil said a few days after the game.
