QPR, Wrexham, Birmingham City increase Joe Morrell

QPR, Wrexham and Birmingham City are keen on Portsmouth midfielder Joe Morrell, reporter Phil Cadden has claimed.

QPR and Portsmouth will be playing Championship football next season, while Wrexham and Birmingham City are very likely to fight their way to the top end of League One.

The Red and Blue Dragons are sure to target some eye-catching autographs. Both are heavily backed financially, so expect some eye-catching additions from them this summer.

Now, it has been claimed that the League One pair are siding with QPR over Joe Morrell.

According to reporter Phil Cadden, the R’s are joining Wrexham and Birmingham City in holding an interest in the Wales midfielder as his Portsmouth contract nears expiry.

Morrell has struggled with injuries at Fratton Park, but when fit he has been a valuable asset in the middle of the park. His experience in the Championship led many to expect him to be retained this summer, but Pompey have opted against a contract extension, although talks have continued.

As interest appears elsewhere and his contract expires, Cadden notes that he now appears to be leaving.
