Decolonizing Knowledge Lecture Series at Birmingham City University

Untitled Design (7)

Want to better understand key themes in decolonial practice and how we can empower each other to improve our teaching and research?

Staff and students can attend either in person or online in a series of decolonizing lectures to demonstrate how we can reimagine our higher education sector.

Birmingham City University and De Montfort University will host the third annual Decolonizing Academic Practice Lecture Series at the Birmingham City Center Campus.

This event will provide students, staff and local communities with the tools and language to critically identify the ways in which our universities are constructed using the same colonial hierarchies.

This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, June 19 (in person) and Thursday, June 20 (online). There will be a conference given by Dr. Leon Moosavi and workshops given by various speakers.

Wednesday June 19 – in person at Curzon Building, Birmingham City University City Center Campus, 6 Cardigan Street, Birmingham, B4 7BD

Thursday June 20 – online through MS Teams

DMU participants will need availability in their schedule to attend and should seek permission from their manager if necessary.
