Leeds United could increase their chances of cashing in on Marc Roca this summer, with Real Betis now planning to sell him permanently despite a loan renewal clause.

The Whites have plenty to keep them busy in the coming weeks as international football dominates the discourse across Europe, primarily sales.

As well as the star players of 23/24 who could be sold, last season’s loan players are also likely to have their futures quickly sorted out.

Marc Roca planned the definitive transfer by Real Betis

Midfielder Marc Roca is one of two players on Leeds’ books who frustratingly retained his loan clause after their relegation and play-off final defeat.

It means he is free to return to Real Betis on loan for 24/25 and is apparently keen to do so, but Marca have shared an exciting new update.

Are you happy that Red Bull have invested in Leeds?

A loan is agreed and ready to be confirmed when the transfer window opens in Spain next month, but he now intends to strike a permanent deal instead.

The feeling at Betis is that they don’t want to hold onto plans to have Roca there long-term, meaning accepting a transfer fee is now ideal for both parties.

It now leaves the two clubs in a position where they have to find a fee to suit both, which would see Roca join Manuel Pellegrini’s side permanently.

The purchase of Roca by Betis would mark a huge increase in Leeds transfers

It goes without saying that Roca isn’t coming back and wouldn’t want to come back, so selling him outright would be great.

Delaying his exit for another year is not what anyone wants as it only leaves more uncertainty.

And for Betis, if they finish the process for another year and we get promoted, as we are likely to do, then it leaves them scrambling to get Roca at a good price.

If they offer us a break-even deal, I expect the 49ers to be happy to move forward.
