Dramatic footage shows an immediate arrest made after a 20-minute “high-speed” chase

Officers were involved in a 20-minute chase along the A5 to catch a “speeding” driver. Warwickshire Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) was involved in the pursuit along the A5.

Officers clocked the Fiesta on the A5 near Atherstone last night, June 17, because of its “speed” and the fact that its brake lights were on. Officers attempted to stop the car near Hinckley but the car “took off” at speed.

It led to a 20-minute chase and a specialist ‘stinger’ was used to deflate the Fiesta’s two front tyres. But the team said the driver continued to drive on the rims before coming to a stop on Coleshill Road.

OPU officers and a dog unit pursued the driver and a suspect was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failure to stop and possession of suspected Class A drugs.

“Fortunately, no one was injured and no vehicle was damaged,” the OPU team posted on its Facebook page.
