A swap deal has been suggested between Tottenham and Leeds United, with Archie Gray at the center of talk, potentially with Joe Rodon and Oliver Skipp heading to Elland Road.

Activity in Leeds’ transfer market will largely depend on what the club do in terms of sales over the next few weeks.

Archie Gray will be subject to interest and potential approaches from top clubs and Leeds are fighting to keep him.

Tottenham are interested in signing Archie Gray

One of the Premier League clubs who appear keen on the 18-year-old Leeds sensation is Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham.

Spurs aren’t the only club looking to land the midfielder, with Borussia Dortmund clubbing together in the same update.

Gray is contracted to Leeds until the summer of 2028 and is therefore not expected to be allowed to leave unless a huge fee is offered.

Happy to have Aaronson back?

Joe Rodon, Oliver Skipp, Archie Gray have been suggested

Of course, Leeds are meanwhile interested in signing a Tottenham player themselves in Joe Rodon, who enjoyed a superb loan spell at Elland Road in 23/24.

Not only that, but Oliver Skipp has more recently been suggested as a potential midfield target should Gray leave.

Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell therefore noted that a swap deal involving Gray from Leeds, then Rodon and Skipp to Tottenham.

He had this to say to the Tottenham News:

“It’s a deal that would make sense. I think we will see such non-traditional exchanges in this window with clubs looking to manipulate the market.

“Archie Gray feels like a player who would suit Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou. That would leave Skipp surplus to requirements, he’s not the first choice anyway, and Gray coming in would put him further down the pecking order.

“He is a player who needs a new start. Obviously, Rodon was there last season and they’re going to get him back. If it helps Tottenham close in on a move for Archie Gray then that would be a superb deal.”

No trade for Gray would make sense for either side

The problem you run into with trade deals is that they very rarely amount to good value for both clubs involved.

Leeds have a generational talent in Gray and the top six clubs believe that giving us two of their deadwood players can be useful weight.

If they want to give us Rodon and Skipp, they should still be looking at £40m on top of that to make sense.

Otherwise, we will sell short, allowing for an exchange.
