Omar Berrada explains what Manchester United must avoid in the transfer window

Omar Berrada, Manchester United’s incoming chief executive, has warned the club could find themselves on a “slippery slope” if they overpay in the transfer window.

Former Manchester City chief operating officer Berrada was headhunted by Ineos to replace Richard Arnold in January and the Moroccan will officially start in his new role on July 13.

Berrada attended the opening ceremony of the EU Business School in Barcelona last week and an attendant posted about their interaction with the new United boss.

Before and during his time at City, Berrada posted tweets bashing United and questioning the running of the club. Berrada shared a story claiming United overpaid for Angel Di Maria in 2014 and an article titled “Manchester United: How did they get into this mess?”

At Barcelona last week, Berrada stressed the importance of establishing a new structure at United, as well as not spending too much in the transfer market.
