Manchester Airport is launching a gaming zone with a virtual reality escape room – Business Traveler

Manchester Airport has introduced a games area at Terminal 1 to entertain passengers before boarding their flights.

The “Gaming Point”, located after security at T1, includes gaming computers loaded with Fortnite, Red Dead Redemption 2, Among Us, Hogwarts Legacy, Minecraft and Rocket League, as well as a Nintendo Switch.

The network of Steam PCs used on the site means that guests can continue their progress on games played at home and also play with or against other players online.

Passengers who feel the need for speed can also try the Formula 1 simulator, equipped with a steering wheel and pedals.

The site also offers a virtual reality escape room with a range of games and headsets so you can experience another world before traveling to your destination.

Prices for a play session start from £7.50 for 30 minutes but vary depending on experience. For example, 45 minutes in the VR escape room starts at £30 for a single headset and goes up to £125 for private access with up to four people.

The airport advises passengers to make reservations in advance, but says walk-ins will be accepted if space is available. Note that age restrictions apply to certain games.

Manchester Airport Retail Director Richard Jackson commented:

“It’s a really fun attraction for gamers and non-gamers alike, with a VR escape room, an F1 simulator and gaming PCs, consoles and more. It means if you’re a fan of PC gaming, you’ll be able to log in and log in to play your favorite games like Fortnite and Among Us. But even if you’re not, it offers a chance to enjoy a new and unique experience while waiting for your flight.”

Graeme Stewart, director of Gaming Point, added:

“I am delighted to be opening Gaming Point at Manchester Airport – a first of its kind for UK airports and a concept that provides a truly fun and innovative experience for passengers to enjoy in Terminal 1.

“Excitingly, with the range of game options we have, there’s something for every type of player! Our innovative space is designed to make pre-boarding an exciting part of the travel experience and give passengers the chance to try something they’ve never experienced before.”

The airport also recently announced plans to reopen its private terminal, which has been closed since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
