Dog poo and stones thrown at ‘youths’ homes in ‘painful’ incidents

Dog poo and rocks were thrown at homes in “distressing” incidents in a Leicestershire village, police said. Officers in Charnwood said residential properties in Sileby were targeted by “youths” in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, June 18).

Leicestershire Police said they received four calls between 1am and 3am from people in the village reporting the behaviour. A force spokesman said damage was done to the windows of a “number” of homes and the incidents were therefore being treated as a “string of criminal damage offences”.

The force said officers attended each time, but the “youths” were seen running away before they could be caught. A spokesman said the incidents had “distressed” villagers and called them “unacceptable”.

Officers are said to be working with Sileby Parish Council to identify the offenders. The beat team said they visited addresses last year to talk to parents and children about stoning. It has been said, however, that this will not happen this time and that arrests will be made instead.

Officers are advising parents in the village to know where their children are in the early hours.
