How much will Real Betis pay to permanently sign Marc Roca from Leeds United

More details have emerged on how much Real Betis are expected to pay to sign Marc Roca permanently from Leeds United.

Betis initially agreed to sign Roca on loan for the second consecutive season following Leeds’ failure to win promotion back to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old is believed to be one of two Leeds loanees with the clause in his contract allowing him to go out on loan again, the other believed to be Jack Harrison. Brenden Aaronson has already waived his right to do so by agreeing to return to West Yorkshire.

However, Betis instead moved to pen a permanent deal with Leeds, with a contract already agreed until 2028.

Roca is expected to become Leeds’ first permanent sale of the summer but certainly won’t be the last, with the backroom staff at Elland Road admitting this will have to be the case in order to meet the PSR.

How much will Roca pay to sign Roca from Leeds

Paraag Marathe insisted earlier this month that Leeds are in a better position when it comes to the future of the returning loanees.

And from the early evidence so far, he’s certainly been proven right. Not only will Leeds now receive a fee for Roca, but they will also receive Aaronson’s services again.

Additionally, none of Max Wober, Diego Llorente or Rasmus Kristensen are believed to have the option to leave again on loan, meaning Leeds could also secure permanent exits for them.

And following news of Betis’ imminent deal with Leeds for Roca, Estadio Deportivo have now gone a step further by revealing more details of the fee they could pay.

It is said that Betis will actually pay less than the £10.1m (€12m) that was originally agreed last summer as a future purchase option.

That means Leeds are almost certain to lose out on what they paid to sign the Spanish midfielder after spending £10m to bring him in from Bayern Munich in 2022.

Selling Roca to help Leeds with cash flow rather than PSR

As mentioned, it has been widely acknowledged that Leeds will need to sell players this summer to stay in line with the PSR, amid a reduction in the parachute payments they receive.

However, with Leeds apparently set to make a loss on Roca, it won’t really help with that, but even more so the cash flow issues.

Leeds owe £73m in unpaid transfer fees by the end of this month, although they are already halfway to increasing that figure due to the sales of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra this financial year.

The sale of Roca will help maintain that without selling any of their key players from last season’s first team squad.
