SOCCER – Solihull Moors sign experienced goalkeeper Walker

SOLIHULL Moors have completed the signing of goalkeeper Laurie Walker after his Barnet contract expired.

The 34-year-old registered 10 clean sheets in 29 National League appearances last season as Barnet lost to Moors in the play-off semi-finals.

And the 6ft 5in shot-stopper is targeting promotion with the Moors next season.

Walker said: “I’m made up, it’s a great club. It will always be a pleasure to play for a club like this that is looking to grow.

“As a unit and a team, I want to help the club go one better than last year and get promotion.”

Moors Director of Football Stephen Ward added: “We are delighted to add Laurie to our squad. He brings a lot of experience to our goaltending department and knows the league very well.”

“Having spent last season on loan in that position, it was a priority for us to bring someone in on a permanent basis and for us to get someone of his caliber is brilliant for the football club.”

Walker began his career in Milton Keynes Dons’ academy before enjoying notable spells with Kettering Town, Hemel Hempstead Town, Oxford City and Brackley Town.

He also has EFL experience with MK Dons, Oldham Athletic and Stevenage.

Walker spent the last two seasons with Barnet where he made 90 appearances in all competitions.
