Leeds United exit finalized – A middle ground has been reached for a deal

Real Betis and Leeds United are finalizing a deal for midfielder Marc Roca, with a middle ground to suit all parties.

According to Estadio Deportivo, who report that the Spanish side have decided to stop the loan and will sign the midfielder permanently.

The paper reports that the two sides are finalizing the deal for the Spanish midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Betis following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.

Betis had the option to extend that loan into a second season, but opted for the “middle ground” by offering Leeds a deal lower than the agreed buyout option, which was €12 million.

They have already reached an agreement with Roca and his entourage, with reports elsewhere in Spain saying it will be a four-year deal.

All that was left was to convince Leeds to lower their demands, something they seem to have managed to do. It is suggested that Leeds would have been willing to negotiate as Roca’s contract at Elland Road is due to expire in 2026, so next summer would have seen a price drop anyway.

Estadio added that his determination to stay in Spain also helped “tilt the balance in favor of Betis”, with them refusing to listen to other offers and almost forcing Leeds’ hand.

A deal is now in place and being finalized for him and Betis to go their separate ways and Leeds to add some much needed funds to their accounts.
