Leicester City get an exciting first game back in the Premier League as they welcome James Maddison and Tottenham Hotspur to the King Power Stadium.

City’s fixtures for the new campaign have been published and will host the first Monday Night Football of the season on August 19. The visitors are Spurs, with Maddison returning to the club for the first time since his £40m move to the capital. .

The attacking midfielder could receive a mixed reception back at Leicester. Although he was the team’s star player in the two years leading up to relegation, he bore the brunt of criticism for failing to pull City out of trouble, particularly with big mistakes such as the penalty miss against Everton.

The game against Ange Postecoglou’s side represents a difficult start to life in the Premier League for City and it’s been a pretty tough opening few months. Before the end of September, City will also host Youri Tielemans and Champions League outfit Aston Villa and travel to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal for one of three early trips to London, with Fulham and Crystal Palace the first two opponents on the road.

City welcome Enzo Maresca back to the King Power Stadium at the end of November for their 12th match of the campaign. Even with Chelsea’s reputation for sacking managers, the Italian should survive until then.

City head to Liverpool on Boxing Day as they make the short trip to Villa for their first game of 2025. Their final five games could be huge if they find themselves in a relegation battle with Wolves, Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Ipswich, and a trip to Bournemouth which represents the final month of the campaign.
