Give thanks to our armed forces on June 29

A special ‘thank you’ for the Armed Forces community is taking place at Dartmouth Park in West Bromwich on Saturday 29 June.

Residents are invited to participate in Armed Forces Day, which is a chance to show support for everyone who makes up the Armed Forces community – from currently serving troops to families, veterans and cadets.

Armed Forces Day 2024

It takes place on the last Saturday of every June and has particular significance this year as it follows the 80th anniversary of D-Day earlier this month. The day gives residents the opportunity to show their pride in the Armed Forces community and recognize the sacrifices made by those who are currently serving or have
they served our country as well as their families.

A small parade will start at 10.50am at the Pavilion Building in Dartmouth Park and proceed to the War Memorial. Residents and community organizations are welcome to join the parade finale. Please arrive by 10.30am if you wish to join. This will be followed by a short memorial service and a minute’s silence.

From 11am to 2.30pm there will be plenty of stalls and family activities, along with the Sovereign Brass Band and live local musical performers, in line with Armed Forces Day.

The Mayor of Sandwell and a representative of the West Midlands Lieutenancy will be present on the day.

A limited amount of free parking is available at Dartmouth Park. Please arrive early to ensure you have a space.
