Terrible machete fight breaks out on residential street – full police statement

This machete was found by West Yorkshire Police officers after responding to reports of a fight in a residential street. The terrifying weapon, complete with scabbard, was found after officers were called to Carr Bottom Road in Bradford.

The policemen who found two suspects chased them and detained them. The incident happened on Friday, with brief details released this week.




A spokesman for the force said: “On Friday 14 June, officers from Bradford South Response Team 1 responded to a report of people fighting with a machete in Carr Bottom Road, Bradford.

“Officers attended and saw two suspects who ran away after seeing the officers, dropping the machete from underneath as they did so.

“Following a lengthy foot chase down Manchester Road, both men were successfully arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.”

West Yorkshire Police have seized dozens of guns from the streets in recent months and years, with Operation Jemlock officers targeting violent crime and knife crime hotspots. Operation Jemlock began in 2019.
