Police in Winding House Lane are investigating after a teenage girl was hit by a car

Police confirmed officers were investigating a collision in Coventry which left a teenage girl with serious injuries. Officers, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were called to the scene in Winding House Lane last night, Tuesday 18 June.

Initial reports indicated that a 12-year-old girl was injured after colliding with a car. But both the police and the ambulance service confirmed he was 19. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospital.



West Midlands Police confirmed a man was arrested at the scene. The 43-year-old man, who has not been identified, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said he was later released on bail. The force said investigations are ongoing and an appeal for witnesses has been launched. “Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to get in touch via Live Chat or by calling 101, quoting log 4306 of June 18,” the spokesman said.

“Road safety is a key issue for WMP; we know that by working together with communities and partners, we can make significant progress in creating safer roads. We actively patrol key areas to enforce speed limits and protect our communities from the dangers of excessive speed. and other road damage issues.”
