Leeds United will have a kit next season that pays homage to the 1970s in the form of the ‘Smiley’ logo.

The Whites are not yet on the field preparing for the 24/25 season, but behind the scenes, there is a lot of work going on for the 49ers.

One of the talking points in the off-season is often the kit to be revealed in due course, and Adidas has a potential special kit design up their sleeve.

The Athletic revealed that as plans take shape for the kit designs to be unveiled later this summer, there is an interesting design.

Nancy Froston reveals the club are likely to have a kit that pays homage to the 1970s kits that sported the famous ‘Smiley’ badge:

“In keeping with the trend towards retro themes at other big clubs in the Adidas stable, The Athletic has been told that potential designs for the new Leeds 2024-25 kits have included previous iterations of the club’s crest, such as the famous ‘smiley’ badge.

“Arsenal and Manchester United’s kits, both made by Adidas, have received similar treatment in recent seasons and have been popular with fans.”

Leeds to explore Adidas alternatives with contract ending in 2025

The lucrative deal between Leeds and Adidas runs from 2020 until 12 months into 2025 and with that, there are bound to be discussions over whether the deal will continue.

The same report as above shows that Leeds are now exploring their options away from Adidas, possibly looking at another supplier:

“Leeds’ deal with Adidas is due to expire in 2025. Discussions with suppliers for the following seasons are being reviewed, as would be expected for a club of their size.”

Adidas could be about to make a kit for Leeds

All the fans have been clamoring recently for the suppliers to design the kits with the correct colors, it’s not that hard.

A white home kit and then a blue or yellow away kit using the actual matching shades that are synonymous with the club.

At the moment, all the noise suggests that Adidas will be looking for a yellow away kit this season and if they include the Smiley badge, it will sell incredibly well.
