A new restaurant is opening in St Ives

Celebrity chef Dorian Janmaat is set to open his first solo outpost next month.

Janmaat, who honed his culinary style as the award-winning executive chef of the Idle Rocks Hotel in St Mawes and before that at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, opens Ardo in the heart of St Ives.

Located on Fore Street, the casual dining restaurant will pay tribute to Janmaat’s love of the Mediterranean coast and Cornwall, where he spent much of his upbringing. Spanish-influenced small plates will celebrate local and Andalusian produce, alongside the freshest Cornish seafood and aged dry cuts, simply cooked over charcoal.

He said: “It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to open a restaurant and I can’t wait to open Ardor’s doors and greet visitors, locals, friends and family in the best way we know how – with food and beautiful wine .

“Ardor’s aim is to offer delicious dishes using the best produce, selected for its quality and flavor, enhanced by cooking with care and simplicity.

Ardor is set to open its doors starting July 8.
