The Bradford factory plans to use “we” to power its website

The company has submitted an application to Bradford Council to install nine tanks and a gas stand at the plant.

In its application it is stated that the water used for washing the wool is processed and the organic and solid elements are transformed into a “cake” with the remaining water sent to the sewer, the company holding special authorization and subject to monitoring by the Environment Agency.

However, some of the organic content that could be converted into energy remained in the wastewater.

The application said an anaerobic digestion unit would break down more organics in the wash water.

The company explained that this will convert the organics into biogas, which will be used “to replace the electricity and gases currently used to power the site and to provide hot water for the washing process”.

The company said the changes, which have received the support of the Environment Agency, would prevent 45 tonnes of “mud” being removed from the site every day.

He added: “This new process will ensure that the water is much cleaner and is the next step towards recycling and becoming net zero.”
