Leicester City manager’s tumultuous return is good news for Leeds United and 49ers in the long run – See

Leeds United have been long-term admirers of out-of-work manager Graham Potter and after advanced talks with Leicester City, a huge turnaround has seen Steve Cooper look like the favorite at the King Power Stadium.

Leeds were made to feel the misery of failing to secure promotion last season and must go down as mission failed, even though Daniel Farke managed a 90-point season and a play-off final with the Albi.

Leicester City were constantly reminding Leeds of their better position, returning to the top flight, but reality bit the Foxes before they had even started pre-season.

Huge managerial upheaval for Leicester City as Steve Cooper moves forward

Enzo Maresca was the first of several expected personnel blows this summer for Leicester, jumping ship after promotion to land a lucrative gig at Chelsea.

It leaves Leicester chasing a replacement, who is yet to be confirmed despite their attempts to land a number of names, including Graham Potter.

Former Nottingham Forest and Swansea City boss Steve Cooper now comes out on top after overnight twists and turns with talks over Potter’s appointment stalled:

Will Leeds be promoted next season?

Leeds and the 49ers were boosted by Potter not having a job

Potter has been out of the game since being sacked by Chelsea in the 22/23 season, but has been the subject of several offers both in England and Europe.

It’s unclear at this stage what job he’s standing for when he’s turned down so many, but one of the clubs who have a long-standing interest in him is Leeds.

The 49ers had Potter in mind before they named Farke, obviously an ambitious ploy after being relegated to the Championship.

Now, if Leeds can be promoted in the next 12 months and intend to offload Farke at some point in the near future, the chances of appointing Potter remain there for the club.

Of course, letting Farke go is something that won’t be considered any time soon with 24/25 looming in the Championship, but Potter’s continued availability on the labor market is intriguing for Paraag Marathe and the club.
