Arne Slot reveals Liverpool’s transfer plan as Richard Hughes rivals PSG to replace Luis Diaz

Arne Slot will be keen to strengthen Liverpool’s squad this summer. The Reds have already been linked with some big names such as Rodrygo, Jeremie Frimpong and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but it remains to be seen whether or not Richard Hughes will bring out the war chest.

While Slot may be eager to follow some new faces to Anfield, Liverpool’s higher-ups will work extra hard to keep hold of their best players. Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold all see their current deals expire in June 2025, meaning the club could lose millions if they are either not sold or tied down to new contracts.

Meanwhile, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez face uncertain futures. So with that being said, Liverpool Echo rounded up all the biggest transfer stories on Wednesday night, June 19, as the Reds undergo a rebuild.

Slot outlines transfer plans

In his first official interview as Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot has claimed he will work closely with Richard Hughes to strengthen the squad this summer. The newly appointed Reds boss said: “For me it’s normal because that’s how things are in Europe and in Holland.

“I don’t think there’s too much of a change between a head coach and a manager, it’s just that being a head coach I can fully get into the things I’d like to do. So, work with the team, prepare. team in the best possible way And Richard and I will work together when it comes to transfers, but it’s not just the two of us – there’s a big backroom staff too.

“I think for me it’s the way I’ve always worked and for me it’s the ideal way of working because I can use most of my time working with the team and the remaining time will probably be a little bit for the family and a little bit to talk with Richard about how we can strengthen the team, but we already have a strong team”.
