Authorities are searching for a missing swimmer in Sheffield

SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT) — The Sheffield Police Department (SPD) says multiple agencies are searching for a missing swimmer in the Tennessee River.

Chief Ricky Terry said Sheffield police are working to find a missing swimmer at Eagle Point, east of the Spring Creek boat ramp.

The chief said rescue boats from Colbert County EMA and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are working to find the man.

Terry said the swimmer is a 21-year-old from Indiana.

Sheffield Fire Department is also assisting at the scene.
