‘My boss wants to give me £500,000 if he wins the lottery – he doesn’t know I’ve raised £10m’

A lottery winner has revealed her boss promises her £500,000 if she hits the jackpot – not realizing her family already has millions.

The unnamed woman, who took to the Other People’s Lives podcast, admitted she prefers not to discuss her substantial fortune, which came after her father won £10million. She managed to keep it a secret, although her colleagues wondered how she could afford the luxury Mercedes that she parks in the company car park every day.

When she first learned of her father’s incredible victory, she was immediately filled with anxiety. She explained: “I was very nervous straight away about what other people would say to me, what people would think if they even found out. I don’t like having to explain things that I think are quite sensitive, and I think finance is like a very sensitive subject.”

Despite downplaying their newfound wealth, some old acquaintances found out about the win and demanded a share. However, most of her wealth is currently tied up in a trust for her future and she is content to continue her regular work.

In an ironic twist, her colleagues invited her to join their lottery syndicate, completely unaware that she was already a winner. “We talked about Powerball in my office and I think they were raising money to buy tickets,” she revealed.

“Everyone talks about it for so long my boss is actually obsessed with buying lottery tickets. He buys them every week and is always talking about what he would do if he won.”

“He says ‘I’ll give you a million dollars for sure, I’d buy you a new car.’ It’s a joke, but sometimes it’s so hard to keep my mouth shut.”

Some colleagues at her new job failed to notice the shiny car she already has. She recalled: “I just started a new job and I pulled up in my car the first day and everyone was like, ‘Oh, whose car is that in the parking lot?’ And “Who has that nice car?” And so on, because everyone drives more modest cars.”
