Police continue to appeal for witnesses after Batley robbery

Detectives investigating the robbery of a taxi driver in Batley are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Kirklees District Crime Squad is appealing for witnesses or anyone with new information to get in touch as they continue to investigate the robbery of a taxi driver near Fry Dayz fishing on Batley Parade at around 3.25am on Thursday, April 25 .

A Cleckheaton man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the matter and has been released on bail, but officers are still keen to hear from members of the public.

A suspect, described as white, aged in his 20s, of medium build, wearing all black with facial scarring, may have been lingering on Manor Way, Parade or Maythorne Avenue just before the attack.

Officers would also like residents on Hazel Grove, Lime Tree Avenue, Hawthorne Avenue, Ashmead, Pine Grove and Chestnut Avenue to see if they have CCTV footage of him or contact police if they recognize the man described above.

The robbery took place after a Toyota Prius taxi, which had been ordered to an address there, pulled up at the location.

A male suspect then entered and threatened the driver inside with a knife before assaulting him.

The suspect then fled with money and other items from the victim’s car, leaving the driver unharmed but very shaken.

Detectives investigating the robbery of a taxi driver in Batley have launched a new appeal for any footage of a suspect near the scene.

Kirklees District Crime Squad are again appealing for information or footage as they continue to investigate the robbery of a taxi driver near Fry Dayz fishing in Batley Parade at around 3.25am on Thursday 25th April.

The suspect, described as white, aged in his 20s, of medium build, with facial scars and wearing black clothing, may have been lingering on Manor Way, Parade or Maythorne Avenue just before the attack.
