Who is Fabian Otte? Arne Slot confirms the new appointment to the team behind Liverpool

Arne Slot has confirmed three appointments to his Liverpool backroom team, including a new face for the former Feyenoord boss.

The Dutchman confirmed the additions to his staff during his first interview as the Reds’ new head coach. He will be joined by assistant Sipke Hulshoff and performance coach Ruben Peeters from his time in Rotterdam.




Slot also confirmed the appointment of new goalkeeper coach Fabian Otte. The pair never worked together, with Otte being chosen as the preferred candidate to replace John Achterberg by FSG.

Otte will arrive later in the summer having been recommended by former England and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as well as current Swiss number one Yann Sommer. Liverpool.com took a closer look at his career so far…

Otte previously played as an amateur for SC Preussen Muenster 06 in the German 3. League before moving to the United States. He graduated from North Carolina State with a bachelor’s degree in sports management in 2013, during which time he also played for the college’s football team.

He also studied international marketing at Newcastle University in the UK before completing a PhD in skill acquisition training and exercise science at the German Sports University in Cologne.

Apart from his academic achievements, Otte worked as a professional goalkeeper coach for seven years. She began coaching at the Ole Football Academy in Wellington, New Zealand, before taking up a role with the country’s women’s national team.
