The lorry burst into flames on the Devon-Cornwall border

Emergency services were called to a vehicle fire on the A30 on the Devon-Cornwall border.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service said its crews were called at around 12.05pm BST to the road in Lifton after receiving reports that an articulated lorry carrying animal feed was on fire.

Firefighters said engines from Tavistock and Okehampton were dispatched and had the blaze under control by 1.45pm, a fire service spokesman said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers had put in place a temporary road closure affecting both roads on the A30 while the fire on the westbound carriageway was dealt with.

The fire service said crews remained at the scene to carry out damping-off work and monitor potential hot spots.
