Former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper reopens Leicester talks with Graham Potter

TalkSPORT understands Leicester have reopened talks with Steve Cooper with Graham Potter now out of the competition.

We reported that the Foxes believed they were close to formalizing a deal for Potter to become their new manager and have even reached a verbal agreement with the former Chelsea and Brighton boss.

Owner Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprahba is keen not to delay the appointment too much and former Nottingham Forest manager Cooper is back in the frame.

TalkSPORT can now reveal that Potter, who turned down Ajax twice this summer, will not be the next Leicester manager.

The former Seagulls manager has been unemployed since April 2023 following his sacking at Stamford Bridge.

Leicester director of football Jon Rudkin led the push for Potter.

The Foxes had also selected Carlos Corberan from West Brom but would have to pay compensation to the Baggies.

Leicester have been without a manager since Enzo Maresca left for Chelsea earlier this summer.

Earlier this month, talkSPORT reported that Cooper was becoming the leading contender for the job.

The Welshman has been out of work since leaving Forest in December.

His potential appointment would prove divisive for Foxes fans given his links to East Midlands rivals Leicester.
