Classic Delight is recalling sandwiches due to potential listeria contamination

SF. MARY’S, Ohio — Classic Delight LLC, a St. Mary’s, OH, has voluntarily recalled a limited number of individually wrapped sandwiches due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections.

The recall affects products shipped to distributors in Arkansas, California, Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. The recalled items, which can be found in food service distribution, convenience stores and vending machines, were manufactured between May 11, 2023 and June 6, 2024.

The recall was initiated after environmental samples tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Classic Delight is working with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to conduct a thorough investigation into the source of the contamination. Production of these products has been suspended pending the investigation.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. While healthy people may experience only short-term symptoms, the infection can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

To date, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported. Consumers who purchased the affected products are advised to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
