Leeds United player ‘pushing’ to move to specific club – Another player blocking deal

In recent weeks, the Italian media have regularly discussed the possibility of Leeds United’s Diego Llorente returning to AS Roma after spending the last 18 months on loan with them.

Previous claims have indicated that the Serie A side have held talks with the Albion over buying the 30-year-old. Two days ago, Corriere dello Sport said he had put his buyout on hold.

Il Tempo, as reported by Forza Roma, say that “all that’s missing” for the Leeds man’s return is the Giallorossi’s “decisive ploy”, but they have yet to take that step.

They suggest Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi could take advantage of Leeds’ failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League to sign the Spaniard on another loan deal.

This will not be favored by the player as he is “pushing” for a permanent transfer to the Italian club.

Thursday’s edition of Corriere della Sera says that Ghisolfi and Roma are working to get rid of players who will not be part of their plans next season. This includes defenders Rick Karsdorp, Marash Kumbulla and Chris Smalling.

Kumbulla and Karsdorp earn €3.3m and €4m gross per year respectively, and their exits would ease the Roma wage bill.

It’s hard for them to sell Albanian for 24 years. The report claims there is a risk Kumbulla could stay at the club and instead “prevent” Llorente from returning to Roma.
