Parking spaces could be lost if the doctor’s surgery expansion plan is approved

A doctor’s office could lose parking if an expansion plan is approved. The move would see an increase in facilities to help patients.

The plan, from Nilesh Chawda, seeks to extend the current provision at Whitwick Road Surgery in Coalville’s Whitwick Road. If approved, a new ‘modular’ block would be installed on the cabinet car park and act as a separate extension.

No changes are proposed to the main surgery building, but the “modular” block would include two consulting rooms. A “small” waiting area is also included in the plans.

The documents reveal that there would also be an “administrative room” in the extras. However, the plan would result in the loss of some of the 41 parking spaces at the cabinet.

In the documents, Mr Chawda confirmed that three paved spaces on the eastern side of the car park would be lost. No disabled locations are affected by the proposal. A small area of grass around the parking lot would also make way for the new building if approved. Mr Chawda also confirmed that the new building would not see an increase in staff at Whitwick Road Surgery.

In the documents, he said five full-time and five part-time employees will continue on the site. A decision on the extension will be made by North West Leicestershire District Council at a later date.
